{ Novel Procrastination }

I’ll admit it. I’m a bit nervous about typing my first blog entry. What if I make a typo? What if it sounds ridiculous in the morning? What the hell do I write? Well . . . that’s why God designed the ‘remove’ button on the back end of this website, isn’t it.

Anyway, it’s 11:00 at night and I have a goal of finishing the ‘final’ edits on the next 15 pages of my novel. Someone once said (I think) that writing is 90 percent procrastination and 10 percent actually writing (alright, maybe I’m making that up, but I do find it to be true quite often). But I’ve found writing a novel to be different . . . most of the time anyway.

I look forward to sinking in and being with my characters and roaming my brain for just the right word or phrase to capture a moment in their lives. But, on the other hand, it sometimes feels like facing a beast, just from the sheer size. This chapter I’m due to finish up tonight, for instance, is 4,365 words  . . . and the book has roughly 22 chapters at last count.

OK. . . . On that note, no more procrastinating. I’m off to be with Ella and Melina on Corfu . . .
